Affected products
This recall involves the ZIGZAG, ZIGZAG PLUS and ZILLON. The ZIGZAG and ZIGZAG PLUS are mechanical Prusiks that allow the user to efficiently climb and move around in a tree. The ZILLON is a work positioning lanyard incorporating the same mechanical Prusik and comes with a built-in rope used to wrap around a trunk or limb of a tree. A Prusik is a friction hitch or a knot used to attach a loop of cord around a rope in climbing.
Issue
If the products are not tested or inspected properly as directed on the Safety Alert section of www.petzl.com, the user could experience slippage and a high rate of descent to the ground resulting in severe injury or death.
As of November 23, 2021, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of incidents involving slippage and no reports of injuries.
