Advisory details
Ottawa, April 26, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Nishimoto Trading Co. Ltd. are warning people with allergies to shrimp not to consume the Egg Custard described below. The affected product contains shrimp which is not declared on the label.
The affected product is sold in a 190 g plastic cup with the top label showing Japanese writing and the UPC 4 978050 014109. On the side panel the product is identified as Egg Custard (Chawanmushi) with the UPC 0 74410 77805 7. All codes are affected by this alert.
This product has been distributed in Vancouver, British Columbia.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to shrimp.
The Importer, Nishimoto Trading Co. Ltd., is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
