Product description

This recall involves the T119 Power Bank that is a rectangular portable battery-powered device for charging the battery of a mobile phone or other electronic device. The unit measures approximately 11 cm long by 2 cm high by 2 cm wide. It has a color match end with a wire key loop and the sides are either Gun Metal (GMT), Blue (BLU), Black (BLK), or Red (RED). On the black top of the charger in white letters are "5V OUT" and "5V IN". The name and/or logo of the organization that gave away the unit as a promotional item appears on the side of the power bank. The units were sold in black consumer cartons.

Hazard identified

The power bank's battery can overheat, posing fire, burn and explosion hazards.

As of March 29, 2019, Spector & Co. Inc. has received 2 reports of overheating. One report resulted in an explosion in Canada and the other resulted in minor fire damage in the United States. No injuries have been reported.

Number sold

Approximately 2,584 units of the T119 Elf 2200 mAh power banks were sold in Canada and approximately 454 were sold in the United States.

Time period sold

The products were sold from May 2016 to December 2018.

Consumers should immediately stop using the T119 Elf 2200 mAh Power Banks, call Spector & Co for a replacement and arrange for proper disposal of the units based on your local municipal requirements.
