Product description
This recall involves certain STIHL branded gas powered garden tools.

The model number is located on the starter cover at the rear of the engine. The engine size is about 28 cc. The products are grey and orange with "STIHL" on the engine cover. The serial number is located on the label on the bottom of the engine.
Hazard identified
The fuel tank’s vent may come loose or separate into its two component pieces, resulting in the leaking of fuel from the vent or opening, posing a fire hazard.
Neither STIHL Limited nor Health Canada has received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products in Canada.
In the United States, Stihl Inc. has received 319 reports of the fuel tank vents coming loose and fuel leaking. No fires or injuries have been reported.
Number sold
Approximately 16,000 units of the recalled products were sold in Canada and approximately 140,000 units were sold in the United States, including an edger that was not sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from January 2015 to September 2015 in Canada and from November 2014 to September 2015 in the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact a STIHL dealer to make arrangements for an inspection and, if necessary, tank vent replacement, at no cost to the consumer.
