This recall involves the Steamist Tilt-Up Bath & Shower Seat. The product is a wall-mounted, folding shower seat made of teak wood slats joined together by support rods that extend from two wall mounting brackets. The Tilt-Up Bath & Shower Seat has a brushed nickel, polished nickel, polished chrome, or oil-rubbed bronze finish on the support rods and bracket covers. The recall only affects models with a shower seat that measure 20 inches wide by 13 inches deep.
To determine if your shower seat is being recalled, first measure the width of the shower seat. If it is less than 20 inches wide, it is NOT being recalled. Next, check the design of the bracket cover of the shower seat to make sure it matches the design pictured (center) above.

Issue
The wall mounting bracket and seat rods supporting the shower seat can erode and break, posing a potential fall and laceration hazard.
As of December 22, 2023, the company has received three reports of failures in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 62 reports of failures with three reports of back scrapes and one report of a back injury.
