Russound MCA-88 Multizone Controller Amplifier Recalled due to Potential Fire Hazard

Affected products
This recall involves the Russound MCA-88 Multizone Controller Amplifier. The product is approximately 17"W x 3.5"H x 17.2"D (43.2 x 9 x 44 cm) and weighs 28.8 lbs. (13.1 kg). The model number MCA-88 is located on the front and “Russound” is also printed on the front of the amplifier. The units that are subject to recall have serial numbers that begin with four digits ranging from 2047 through 2307. The serial numbers are located on a visible label on the front of the unit under the clear plastic cover.
Units outside of that serial range are not being recalled.
Issue
The internal circuit board components can overheat, posing a potential fire hazard.
As of October 3, 2023, the company has received 3 reports of incidents in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 13 reports of smoking, charring or thermal damage to the unit itself. The company has not received any reports of injuries in Canada or the United States.
