Orca Lite Multi-Purpose Utility Lighter
Product description
This recall involves refillable Orca Lite Multi-Purpose utility lighter distributed by Clair de Lune Inc.
The recalled lighters have a flexible black metallic barrel attached to a gold, silver or black plastic handle. The lighters can be identified by the lot number KA1109 printed on the label of the product. The model number 2022460 and the UPC 0828309302424 are also printed on the label. All lighters have refill instructions with the name Orca Lite attached to the handle.
This recall does not include any other models of Orca Lite Inc. brand lighters.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada of these utility lighters has revealed that they may pose a safety risk to users because they do not meet the performance testing requirements outlined in the Lighters Regulations.
These lighters can pose the following problems:
- the lighters may exceed the allowable flame heights during ignition;
- the lighters may continue to burn after the trigger mechanism has been released;
- the lighters may leak.
Neither Clair de Lune nor Health Canada has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these lighters.

Approximately 7,504 pieces of the recalled lighters were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled lighters were sold from December 2011 to July 2012.
