Product description
This recall involves the Sunea CMO RTS motor used to operate retractable awnings. The awning motor heads are silver and black-coloured. "Somfy" is printed on the motor head. Motor heads that are entirely black in colour are not included in this recall. The recalled Sunea CMO RTS can be identified by the following model numbers:
- 525A2
- 535A2
- 550R2
The model number is printed on a label on the motor tube.
Hazard identified
The awning motor's power cable can be severed while the awning is opened or closed manually, posing a risk of electrical shock to the user.
Neither Somfy ULC nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.
Number sold
Approximately 143 of the recalled products were sold at awning dealers and retailers in Ontario and in Quebec.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from December 2009 to September 2010.
Place of origin
Manufactured in France.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled awning motors and the awning's manual crank, and unplug and/or disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling the unit to protect against anyone using the awning. Consumers should contact Somfy ULC to receive free installation of a replacement awning motor by an authorized Somfy representative.
