Product description
This recall involves the LUS Hair Dryer and Diffuser, model HC-LUS01. The hand-held 125 V/60 Hz hair dryer is white in colour and bears the logo "LUS Brands" and "Love Ur Curls". The dryer comes in two speed settings, "low" and "high", and three temperature settings: "cool", "warm", and "hot".
Hazard identified
The hair dryer and diffuser is marked as conforming to the standard UL 859 but the recalled product does not have an Appliance Leakage Current Interrupter (ALCI) plug, which poses a risk of electric shock in homes without Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI) if the product becomes immersed in water.
As of April 20, 2020, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada or the United States.
Number sold
Approximately 410 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and approximately 3167 were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from November 2019 to February 2020.
