Product description
This recall involves John Deere Compact Utility Tractor 1000, 2000, 3000 & 4000 series manufactured by Deere & Company in the United States between February 15 and June 11, 2013. The tractors are green and yellow with a foldable black, metal rollover protection bar that extends above the operator's head. The model number is on the hood. The vehicle identification number (VIN) and date code are located on the right hand side of the frame above the front axle.
Only utility tractors with the below model, VIN and date codes are included in this recall.

Hazard identified
The spring locking pin used to retain the foldable Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) pin may not meet specification. If the spring locking pin breaks, the ROPS pin may not be retained and fall out. Without the ROPS pin in place the ROPS could fail in the event of a rollover. The spring locking pin is located at the folding roll over protection joint at the back of the tractor above the lights.
Deere & Company and Health Canada has received no reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these compact utility tractors.
Number sold
Approximately 203 of the recalled compact utility tractors were sold in Canada at John Deere dealers nationwide.
Approximately 7,750 of the recalled products were sold in the United States.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from February 15, 2013 to June 11, 2013 in Canada and the United States.
Place of origin
Manufactured in the United States.

What you should do
Consumers should stop using the recalled utility vehicles immediately and contact the nearest John Deere dealer to make arrangements to have the compact utility tractor repaired. This service will be performed at no cost to the customer.
For more information, consumers may contact Deere & Company at 1-800-537-8233 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday and between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET Saturday or visit the firm's website.
