Product description

The recalled products are plates, bowls and mugs from the HEROISK and TALRIKA dinnerware series. They are made from PLA (Polylactic acid or polylactide) material from renewable plastics in a variety of colours. The article name ("HEROISK" or "TALRIKA"), supplier number "23348", "Made in Taiwan" and "PLA" are moulded into the bottom of each item.

Hazard identified

The plates, bowls and mugs can break during use, posing a burn hazard when they contain hot liquids.

As of May 13, 2021, the company has received 123 reports of the dinnerware breaking globally: four reports of injuries with two seeking medical attention. From the total reports, one report was from Canada with no injuries, and one report was from the United States with no injuries.

Number sold

The company reported that 11,443 units of the affected product were sold in Canada and approximately 148,000 units were sold in the United States. Globally, the company reported approximately 2,500,000 units were sold.

Time period sold

The affected products were sold from August 2019 to May 2021.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled dinnerware and return the product to the IKEA Returns & Exchanges department for a full refund. Consumers are encouraged to check for store hours and openings due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
