Generac portable generators recalled due to fire hazard

Affected products
This recall involves certain Generac portable generators. The products are liquid propane and natural gas generators. The brand “Generac” and the unit type are printed on the control panel side of the generators. The model and serial number are printed on a label adhered to the side of the alternator or on the frame cross member.

Issue
When first filling the recalled generator, fuel can leak from the carburetor, posing a fire hazard. Consumers with generators that have previously been filled with enough fuel to move the gauge off "E," or have been used without any fuel leakage, can continue use.
As of March 31, 2026, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 114 reports of fuel leaking with no reports of fire or injuries.
What you should do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable generators and contact Generac to determine if their product is included in this recall. If your unit is included in the recall, and has either not yet been filled with fuel or exhibited leakage after fueling as described above, please contact your dealer to arrange for a free repair at the dealer’s location.
