Product description
This recall involves Stanley Commercial Hardware's grade 1 mortise lever lock QMS/QME 100 Series. The affected locksets have: Bright Brass, Satin Brass, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Satin Nickel, Bright Chrome or Satin Chrome finish.
The locksets were sold in 15 different "functions" or models that can be identified by the three digit number following the QMS/QME series (Image 3). The affected date codes are located on the lower portion of the mortise lock case (Image 4).

Hazard identified
The lockset can fail to open, posing an entrapment hazard and inability to vacate a location in an emergency.
As of December 6, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidences in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 8 reports of lockset latch failure. No injuries have been reported.
Number sold
Approximately 830 units of the affected products were sold in Canada, approximately 13,500 were sold in the United States, and approximately 215 were sold in Mexico.
Time period sold
The affected products were sold from December 2013 to June 2018.
