This recall involves Bioderma Sensibio H20 micellar water makeup remover in the 850 ml size. The UPC code is written on the white barcode label on the back of the bottle, and the lot number is engraved on the bottom of the bottle.

Issue

Some recalled products could contain a common microorganism called Serratia marcescens. Serratia marcescens rarely causes severe infections in healthy individuals. Those who have a weakened immune system or other favourable conditions, such as a very recent surgery, could be infected. The anticipated hazard is a skin infection (pimples) or an eye infection, in the event of accidental contact with eyes (conjunctivitis).  

As of February 25, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products.

To determine whether they are in possession of an affected product and to find out how they can get a refund and dispose of the product, consumers can visit the website https://www.bioderma.ca/en/product-withdrawal-recall-info or call 1-514-270-3763 option 1, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST.  

Please note that, in addition to the requirements of the Cosmetic Regulations, the Food and Drugs Act (FDA) prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are either made with hazardous substances, or under unsanitary conditions, to users in Canada.

Health Canada would like to remind Canadians to report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product or any other consumer product or cosmetic by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
