Product description
Hardcore Energize Bullet products are promoted as liquid energy drinks.
They come packaged in 2.9-ounce (85.7 mL) clear, test-tube like vials and are sold in a 12-pack.
Reason for warning
The FDA warned consumers not to buy or use certain lots of Hardcore Energize Bullet liquid energy drinks due to suspected tampering involving the report of a utility knife blade found in one vial of the product.
Health Canada previously issued a Public Warning on several affected lots of Hardcore Energize Bullet that were distributed in Canada by the company Upper 49th Imports.
One additional affected lot, lot 1945 (Blue Rage flavour), was subsequently identified and is being recalled from the U.S. market. This lot was not distributed in Canada.
The caps of tampered products are devoid of any print — the "best by" date and lot code that should appear on the cap of every vial do not appear on caps of tampered products.
Health Canada has also issued a Foreign Product Alert on certain lots of New Whey liquid products, which are also manufactured by Protica Inc. and are also being recalled due to suspected tampering.
Possible side effects
The suspected tampering involved a utility knife blade found in one vial of the product. No one is known to have been hurt.
What you should do
Canadians who have this product are advised not to use it, and should consult with a health care professional if they have concerns about their health related to the use of this product.
Health Canada advises Canadians to contact the Health Products and Food Branch Inspectorate at 1-800-267-9675 if they find the product listed above in the Canadian marketplace.
