Affected products

Britax Diplomat Infant/Child Restraint System. Recall by Britax Child Safety, Inc., as announced by Transport Canada.

Product description

The affected Britax Diplomat infant/child restraint system was manufactured from June 16, 2008 to September 3, 2008, and has the model number E9L6869.

Hazard identified

The French language instruction manual incorrectly describes the positioning of the harness straps for the forward-facing mode.

The incorrect language on page 45 of the manual uses the term au-dessous, which means below. The term should read au-dessus, which means above.

The English language instruction manual is correct.

Should the shoulder harness be located at a position below the shoulders, the injury to the child in the event of a collision is potentially increased.

Number sold

Approximately 830 units were available across Canada.

Time period sold

The time period during which the product was sold is not known.
