Summary
Immediately stop using the recalled product until the DigiAir compressor in the recalled PTAC units has been disabled by following instructions to disable it and contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. (DCT) to arrange a free repair of the unit by a qualified technician.
Affected products
This recall involves Amana-branded Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps (PTACs) assembled with “DigiAir” modules. DigiAir modules are factory-installed make-up air systems with configurable dehumidification. Amana is printed on the unit’s control cover. The recalled units are beige and have a model number and serial number on a label that is located on the front of the PTAC unit just below the control board. The serial number is a ten-digit number and ranges from numbers starting with 1501 to 2212. All model numbers that begin with PMH or PMC are impacted.
Issue
The DigiAir module compressor can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.
As of July 26, 2023, the company has received no reports of any issues with the products in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the United States, the company has received 52 reports of issues with the DigiAir compressor including 10 resulting in fires, and no reports of injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product until the DigiAir compressor in the recalled PTAC unit has been disabled by following instructions to disable it and contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, L.P. (DCT) to arrange a free repair of the unit by a qualified technician. DCT is contacting all known purchasers directly.
