Zebco Youth Fishing Reel
Product description
This recall involves only bright orange-coloured spinning fishing reels sold in combination with fishing rods and with the markings "Zebco" and "ZAVS 10" on the reel handle. The spool is marked "Zebco AVS v 1.0". The rods can be identified by the following product code: ZAV1SP54C, 06, NS3 UPC 032784583110 Orange Spinning Combo.
The recall does not apply to spincast (or closed face) reels or the rods.
Hazard identified
The paint on the fishing reel contains lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead can be toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Neither Zebco nor Health Canada have received reports of illnesses related to the use of these fishing reels.

Number sold
Approximately 1,737 units of the recalled reels were sold at various discount department and sporting goods stores in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from August 2007 to December 2008.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.
