Product description
This recall involves the following 4 yo-yo type balls by Imperial Toy. These toys are made of soft, sticky plastic and have a stretchable plastic cord; some products have a finger loop at the end.
- Life-Like Punch Ball Critter™
- The ball end of this toy can be used either inflated or uninflated and is in the shape of the following animals: lion, frog, elephant, monkey, dragon, mouse, iguana and a pig. The tail of the animal forms a plastic cord and finger loop, which can stretch to 77cm. This toy can be identified by item number 21882H (12931) and UPC 076666218820.
- Wildin' Out Punch Ball™
- The ball end of this toy can be used either inflated or uninflated and is in the shape of the following animals: cat, giraffe, parrot and zebra. The tail of the animal forms a plastic cord and finger loop, which can stretch to 67cm. The toy can be identified by item number 2187B (13170) and UPC 076666218769.
- Googly® Punch Balls™
- The ball of this toy can be used either inflated or uninflated and is covered with multicoloured stretchy plastic spaghetti fingers. The toy has a plastic cord and finger loop that can stretch to 60cm. The product is identified by item number 22765 (13330) and UPC 076666227655.
- Googly® Tails™
- The body of this toy is in the shape of an animal. Its tail forms a plastic cord that can stretch to 54cm. The toy can be identified by item number 22764 (13334) and UPC 076666227648.
Hazard identified
Yo-yo type balls and similar products are banned in Canada because they present a hidden risk of strangulation to children.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this product.

Approximately 270,000 of the recalled products were sold at Walmart, Zellers, Toys R Us, Alberta Importers, Famous Toy Liquidators, GT Wholesale, The Bargain Shop and Michael's stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from September 2006 to July 2009.
