Product description
This recall involves certain Yakima HoldUp vehicle hitch mounted bicycle carriers manufactured between March 1, 2018 and April 30, 2018. The affected units can be identified by determining the shape of the snap pin head. The affected snap pin heads do not have a flat edge on one side of pin head.

Hazard identified
The snap pins can become loose and fall out causing the rear wheel cup (and rear wheel) to detach from the main frame. Prior warnings of this defect may include sliding or banging noises when the rear wheel and wheel cup hits the ground. This can result in a bicycle ejection, causing a crash or personal injury to persons outside the vehicle.
As of July 5, 2018, Yakima Products, Inc. has received no report of incidents or injuries in Canada. The company has received four reports of incidents related to the use of this product in the United States.

Approximately 314 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.
Time period sold
The affected Yakima HoldUp EVO products were sold from April 2018 to May 2018.

Consumers should immediately remove the bicycle carrier from their vehicle and contact Yakima customer service to obtain replacement snap pins at no charge.
