Product description

This recall involves a plastic rattle that is approximately 14 centimetres (5.5 inches) long and features three coloured (orange, aqua blue and purple) stars that sit between two clear rattles on a flexible stem. The clear rattles are approximately 4.45 centimeters (1.75 inches) in diameter and contain small multi-coloured beads. One rattle contains a white plastic disc featuring a blue smiling character face.

The recalled rattle can be identified by item number 211460 and UPC 011964451425.

Hazard identified

The clear spheres on each end of the rattle can break when dropped onto hard surfaces, resulting in small parts, posing a choking hazard to young children.

Manhattan Group has received 2 reports of rattles breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of this toy.

Number sold

Approximately 148 units of the recalled rattles were sold at various specialty toy and baby stores and online at in Canada.

Approximately 2,192 units of the recalled rattles at various specialty toy and baby stores and online at in the United States.

Time period sold

The recalled rattles were sold from September 2011 to March 2012.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately take the rattle away from children and return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
