Product description
This recall involves two models of black plastic heat guns by Wagner Spray Tech Corp. The recalled Milwaukee Heat Gun has model number MHT3300 and the Wagner Heat Gun has model number HT3500. The name and model number of the heat gun are located on a black label on the bottom of the heat gun's barrel. The heat guns measure approximately 25 cm (10 inches) long, 20 cm (8 inches) high, and 7 cm (3 inches) wide.
Hazard identified
An electrical component failure inside the heat gun can cause it to continue to produce heat after the power switch has been turned off. This can melt the plastic exterior of the heat gun and cause a burn if the heat gun is touched or ignite nearby combustibles.
Wagner Spray Tech Corp. has received nine reports of the heat guns overheating, with no reports of injury or property damage.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries to Canadians related to the use of these heat guns.
Number sold
Approximately 19,200 of the recalled heat guns were sold at major and independent hardware and home improvement stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were distributed from November 2004 to April 2009.
