Product description
This recall involves Viking Professional 4 Slot Toasters that are labelled on the underside with "VIKING, UL Listed 73D3, Viking Range Corporation, Model VT400 Series".
The affected model numbers are: VT400WH, VT400BK, VT400GG, VT400SG, VT400BR and VT400CB.
Hazard identified
The wiring inside the toaster can become loose and contact the toaster body, posing a shock hazard to consumers.
Viking has received five reports from consumers who experienced a minor shock when touching the outside of the toaster.
Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries or incidents related to the use of this product.
Number sold
Approximately 440 units were sold at culinary dealers, including major retailer houseware departments, small gourmet shops, and online dealers across Canada and through the Viking Web site.
Time period sold
The recalled toaster was sold from April 2005 to November 2008.
Place of origin
Manufactured in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug the recalled toaster.
