Affected products

This recall involves various custom-made corded window coverings manufactured by Vénitiennes 83 Inc. All products are available in a wide range of custom colours and sizes.

They are equipped with a cord shield and a p-clip. The bottom rail end caps of the window coverings are not fixed with a screw.

Issue

Health Canada has determined that the recalled blinds do not meet the Corded Window Coverings Regulations and pose a strangulation hazard. In fact, the cord shield can be easily removed making the operating rope accessible. Young children may pull looped cords around their neck, or become entangled in the cords, causing a strangulation hazard and even death.  In addition, the products can also release small parts (bottom rail end caps) that present a choking hazard to young children.

Children can become entangled in blinds cords, which can quickly lead to strangulation and even death. Health Canada recommends cordless window coverings. For more information on the hazard, see Blind Cord Safety.

As of January 18, 2024, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.
