Product description
This recall involves the mood necklace pendants on a silver-coloured chain sold under the "Urban Pop" brand. The pendants come in a variety of shapes and colours. The recalled necklaces can be identified by UPC 068589600974.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada revealed that the mood necklaces contain lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is very toxic to children even at low exposure levels. Children can ingest harmful amounts of lead when they chew, suck or swallow jewellery items containing lead.
Neither Health Canada nor AZ Home and Gifts have received any reports of illnesses or incidents related to the use of these necklaces.

Number sold
Approximately 2,592 of the recalled necklaces were sold at various dollar and discount stores across Canada.
Time period sold
The recalled products were sold from August 2007 to April 2010.

What you should do
Consumers should immediately take these pieces of jewellery away from children and either return them to the original point of purchase or dispose of them. Consumers are asked to contact their municipality for instructions on disposing items containing lead.
