Advisory details

Ottawa, April 11, 2011 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Bangle Hand Inc. are warning people with allergies to wheat not to consume Bangle Hand Pakkoda. The affected product contains wheat which is not declared on the label.

The affected product is sold in 200 g, 400 g, and 1 Kg packages. The product may also have been sold in other sizes which are hand written on the package. There are no lot codes or UPC numbers on the package. This product has been distributed in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area .

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to wheat.

The manufacturer, Bangle Hand Inc., Toronto, Ontario is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
