Ottawa, September 25, 2011 - The previous public warning issued on September 24, 2011 has been amended to correct the company telephone number.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Smucker Foods of Canada Corp. are warning people with allergies to soy not to consume the Red River Hot Cereal described below.  The affected product may contain soy, which is not declared on the label.

All codes of Red River Hot Cereal sold in 1.35 kg packages bearing the UPC 0 59000 03960 2 are affected by this alert.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy.

The manufacturer, Smucker Foods of Canada Corp., Markham, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. This recall does not impact Red River Hot Cereal products distributed in the United States.  The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
