Ottawa, June 29, 2012 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Uncle T Food Ltd. are warning people with allergies to almond not to consume the Lotte brand Choco Pie described below. The affected product may contain almond which is not declared on the label.
The affected product, Lotte brand Choco Pie, is sold in 168 g packages bearing UPC 8 801062 161881 and in 336 g packages bearing UPC 8 801062 160709 or 8 801062 16825. All Date Descriptions are affected by this alert.
This product is known to have been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario and may have been distributed in other provinces as well.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to almond.
The importer, Uncle T Food Ltd., Richmond BC, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
