Turtle-Shaped Pull Cord Toy by Estowest Company Limited
Product description
This recall involves a plastic turtle-shaped pull cord toy in various colour combinations, distributed by Estowest Company Limited and sold exclusively at Everything for a Dollar stores.
The bottom of the turtle is a different colour from the body. The toy has plastic spoked wheels on the underside of the body, a plastic cannon on the top of the turtle, and a pull cord attached to its back.
The package has the words "Pull Cord and Watch it Go!" and is labelled for children under three. The recalled toy can be identified by item number G46136 and UPC 5831368461364.
Hazard identified
Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the turtle's hat, wheels and wind-up mechanism can easily detach from the toy; these small parts pose a choking hazard to young children.
Additionally, the exposed screws in the underside of the turtle pose a laceration hazard to children.
Neither Everything for a Dollar nor Health Canada has received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.

Number sold
Approximately 5,400 of the recalled toys were sold at Everything for a Dollar stores in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
Time period sold
The recalled toys were sold from October 2007 to May 2009.
