Product description

This recall involves the Trek 2012 FX Bicycles. The affected bicycles can be identified by the model and the following names:

The model name can be found on the frame of the affected bicycles.

Hazard identified

The bolt that secures the seat saddle clamp to the seat post can break posing a fall hazard.

No reports of injury or incidents in Canada have been received by the company. However, Trek has received four reports of incidents with one injury involving a broken tooth and lip injury in the US.

Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Number sold

Approximately 1,136 recalled bicycles were sold in Canada and 27,000 in the US at specialty bicycle retailers.

Time period sold

The recalled products were sold from May 2011 to September 2011 in Canada and in the United States.

Place of origin

Manufactured in China.

Consumers should stop riding the bicycles immediately and contact an authorized Trek dealer for a free replacement bolt.
