Issue
On certain electric vehicles, the reverse sound of the pedestrian warning system may not be loud enough. Canadian regulations require electric vehicles to make a minimum sound level when operating at low speeds.
Safety risk
A pedestrian warning system that isn't loud enough could create an increased risk of injury for other road users.
Corrective actions
Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the acoustic vehicle alerting system (AVAS) software.
