Issue
Issue:
On certain school buses, the U-bolts that attach the rear axle to the suspension could break. As a result, the axle could slide on the leaf spring and/or detach. This could cause poor handling and lead to a loss of control.
Note: This recall only affects certain school buses built on GM chassis and equipped with supplemental leaf springs.
Safety Risk:
A loss of control could create the risk of a crash. An axle that detaches could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Micro Bird will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your school bus to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the leaf spring U-bolts and screws.
