Issue
On a small number of trailer-mounted generators, the wiring connecting the fuse holders may not have been installed properly. As a result, the wiring could become damaged by contact with the starter motor housing or terminal stud. This could cause a short circuit or electrical arcing (sparks).
Safety risk
A short circuit could create a risk of a fire. Exposed wiring could create a risk of shock or electrocution.
Corrective actions
To reduce the safety risk, Cummins advises not to use your generator until the recall repairs have been completed. Cummins will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer-mounted generator to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect and secure the wiring. If the wiring is damaged, it will be repaired or replaced, as necessary.
