Issue
On certain trucks, a software problem could cause the high-voltage system to shut down. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power to the wheels, including a loss of power steering assist and power brake assist. Note: This recall only affects certain electric trucks equipped with a Motiv Power Systems powertrain.
Safety risk
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A loss of power brakes can cause an increase in brake pedal force and lead to an increase in stopping distance. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort. These issues could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective actions
Motiv Power Systems will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update for the vehicle software. If you have questions about repairing your truck, you should contact Motiv Power Systems.
