Issue
Issue:
On certain brush chipper trailers, the service and maintenance manuals list the wrong torque specification for the wheel nuts. As a result, some trailers may have had the lug nuts over-tightened during servicing. This can damage the wheel studs and cause them to break. If this happens, a wheel could separate from the trailer.
Safety Risk:
A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle.
Corrective Action:
Vermeer will notify owners by mail and provide you with replacement manuals and instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, replace the lug nuts and wheel studs.
