Transport Canada Recall - 2024140 - BMW

Issue: This recall is for certain motorcycles equipped with a BMW Motorrad accessory top case. The locking flap that secures the top case to the luggage carrier may not be properly secured, even if it looks like it is. As a result, the top case could detach from the motorcycle while driving. Note: These parts may have been installed on new motorcycles or sold as an accessory part through BMW dealerships. Safety Risk: A top case that detaches from the motorcycle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to repair the locking mechanism, if it is equipped with a top case. Additionally, BMW will update the instructions for how to lock the top case.
