Issue
On certain school buses, hardware inside the high-voltage distribution unit (HVDU) and DC junction box (DCJB) could loosen and detach. If this happens, the loose hardware could cause a short circuit. This could cause a sudden loss of power while driving, including a loss of power steering assist and reduced braking.
Safety risk
A sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a crash. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective actions
Lion Électrique will advise owners by mail and provide you with precautions that may be taken to reduce the safety risks. Lion will also contact owners and arrange for a service team to replace the hardware inside the high-voltage distribution unit and DC junction box.
