Issue

Issue:
On one Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley electric school bus, the automatic low voltage disconnect switch could fail in the open position. If this happens, there could be a loss of 12 V power to the bus. This could cause a loss of lighting, power steering assist and a sudden loss of power to the wheels.

Safety Risk:
A loss of lighting could cause reduced visibility. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort. These issues and a sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.

Corrective Actions:
Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify the owner by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.
