Issue

Issue:
On a small number of trucks, the spring wedge shims for the rear axle may have been installed backwards. As a result, the wrong driveshaft angle could lead to the failure of a universal joint. If this happens, the driveshaft could separate from the vehicle and cause a loss of power to the wheels.
Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with the suspension code 14VAD, 14VAG or 14VAH.

Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driveshaft that detaches from a vehicle could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reinstall the spring wedge shims for the rear axle.
