Issue
On certain vehicles, a recent firmware update (release 2022.36) could cause a loss of power steering assist while driving on rough roads or after hitting a pothole.
Safety risk
A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective actions
Tesla has released an over-the-air firmware to fix this problem. There is no further action required if your vehicle has firmware release 2022.36.05 or a later release. Tesla will notify affected owners by email.
