Issue
On certain vehicles, a programming error in the control module for the antilock braking system (ABS) could cause the brake lamps to turn on or stay on when the driver is not braking. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 2.0 L EcoBoost engine and towing package.
Safety risk
Brake lamps that switch on or stay on when the vehicle is not braking could cause confusion for other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective actions
Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the ABS control module software.
