Issue
On certain vehicles, a brake line may leak at the threaded connections and cause reduced braking. If this happens, the driver may experience increased brake pedal travel and a change in brake pedal feel (soft or low pedal). Note: A brake fluid leak would cause the low brake fluid warning light to turn on in the instrument panel.
Safety risk
Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective actions
Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the affected brake lines.
