Issue
On certain vehicles, the rear frame could rust where the fuel tank and rear subframe are mounted. If this happens, the fuel tank and/or rear subframe mounts could separate from the frame. This can allow the fuel tank to fall and become damaged, which could cause a fuel leak.
Safety risk
A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire.
Corrective actions
Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear frame for corrosion. Depending on the outcome of the inspection, the dealer will either apply corrosion protection and install a support brace, or repair the frame. Honda will offer to repurchase vehicles that do not pass the inspection.
