Issue

Issue:
On one Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley electric school bus, the connector terminals on the power cable to the high-voltage motor may not be properly crimped. As a result, the cable could disconnect and cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels or a create short circuit.

Safety Risk:
A short circuit could create the risk of a fire. A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a school bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury.

Corrective Actions:
Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify the owner by mail and instruct them to take their bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect, and if necessary, repair or replace the high-voltage motor power cable. To reduce the safety risk, DTNA recommends not to operate the bus until the recall repairs have been completed.
