Issue
On certain motorcycles, a software problem may limit the engine speed in first gear. This could cause the motorcycle not to accelerate as expected when you apply the throttle. Note: This recall affects motorcycles repaired under recall 2020-571.
Safety risk
A sudden lack of acceleration could surprise the rider, and in certain situations, could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective actions
Yamaha will contact owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to update the engine control unit (ECU) software. Yamaha recommends that you should not use your motorcycle until this updated is completed.
