Issue: On certain vehicles, the airbag control module may not be mounted properly. As a result, the airbag may not inflate in a crash, or it could inflate suddenly while driving. Safety Risk: An airbag that does not inflate properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Additionally, an airbag that inflates suddenly while driving could increase the risk of injury or a crash. Corrective Action: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealer to replace the airbag control module.
