Issue

Issue:
On certain trucks, the ground cable that connects the starter motor to the frame could break. If this happens, the engine may crank slowly or not at all, causing the vehicle not to start. Additionally, if a driver repeatedly attempts to start the truck after the cable has broken, the power steering hose could act as a conductor and overheat. This can cause the power steering hose to rupture and create a power steering fluid leak.

Safety Risk:
Power steering fluid that leaks onto a hot surface could cause a fire.

Corrective Actions:
Isuzu will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the starter ground cable and inspect the power steering hose for damage. The hose will be replaced, as necessary.
