Issue

On certain cars equipped with a 3.3 L T-GDI engine, an engine compartment fire could occur while driving. Kia believes that a fire could start in or near the brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). Note: This recall does not affect vehicles equipped with Smart Cruise Control (SCC).

Safety risk

The car could catch fire while driving.

Corrective actions

Kia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a new fuse kit. The kit contains two new fuses of 25A instead of 40A, which are designed to prevent an over-current condition.
