Issue

Issue:
On certain vehicles that had the instrument cluster replaced, the seat belt warning may not work correctly. As a result, the seat belt warning light will not flash when the front seat belts are not buckled. Also, the warning chime will not sound. Canadian regulations require the light to blink and there be an audible warning when the seat belts are not buckled.

Safety Risk:
A seat belt warning that does not work correctly may not remind people buckle their seat belt. Not wearing your seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Corrective Actions:
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the instrument cluster software.
