On a small number of trucks, the transmission torque converter damper plate may be defective and could break. If this happens, the engine could stall and there may be an increase in brake pedal force required to stop the truck.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. A sudden increase in brake pedal force could lead to an increase in stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Ford will notify owners and instruct you to take your truck to a Ford dealer to replace the automatic transmission.
